Copyright Guidelines

Copyright laws exist to protect the intellectual property of authors and artists, and Afghan Hounds International believes in supporting those laws.

Copyrights can be confusing but a good rule of thumb is, if you didn't write it, or create it, don't post it or use it.

All of the following are copyright violations if done without permission:

  • Posting newspaper or magazine articles, whether copied from an online source or re-typed from a printed source.
  • Posting poems, song lyrics, short stories unless they are in the public domain.
  • Posting or attaching images, photos, graphics, etc. Even signature graphics, when copied and used without permission.
  • Calling images from another server without permission. This is a copyright violation and bandwidth theft.
  • Posting messages from another forum.
  • Posting other's email messages

Most sites have their copyright policies, or terms of use, linked at the bottom of their pages. In all cases, you should check those terms of use, and follow the instructions given, or refrain from using the source, if it's prohibited.

If you want to reference an article from elsewhere, a short, attributed quote from an article or web page is generally ok, and providing a link to the article but reprinting the entire thing is not unless permission is granted or users are directed to do so.

Do not take images, graphics, photographs, or other art from another site without express written permission.
Manipulating images may also be prohibited.
